Dress-Up Day!

Hey, have I remembered to mention the Lubbock Comic Book Expo lately? It’s happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. over at the Science Spectrum, right here in Lubbock!

What’s that got to do with the disturbingly cute pastel-pink Sith Lord pictured above? Well, it wouldn’t be a proper convention if there weren’t a costume contest.

Oh, heck, it’s not just that there’s a costume contest. (And there is, running from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday) The thing that should give you comics-loving Lubbockites a thrill is that, if you wear a costume, you get in free.

Sure, you’re just saving three bucks, but that’s three bucks you could be spending on, oh, lunch, or comics, or 300 gumballs, or most of a gallon of gas.

And the prizes are — whoo boy, what prizes! You can scarce imagine the sheer unadulterated wonderfulness of the prizes you could win. They’re just so prizeliciously prizefully… okay, I have no idea what the prizes are. I suspect they’re entirely nifty. If they aren’t, we’ll have a lot of angry Legolases running around, and no one wants that. So I’m sure the prizes will rock.

Will I be dressing up? Unfortunately, no. It’s been a very busy few months, and I haven’t had time to finish stitching up my Sailor Moon costume. Maybe next year.

So, seriously, everyone get your Tom Baker scarves, Spider-Man costumes, Batman cowls, Enterprise uniforms, Power Girl outfits, Rorschach masks, elf ears, black trenchcoats, etc., and we’ll see y’all Saturday at the Expo.
