Friday Night Fights: Short Sharp Shock

I’m still on hiatus, but there’s no way I can miss out on our traditional beginning of the weekend, can I? So let’s get set for… FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS!

Today’s battle is from September 1965’s Fantastic Four #42 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Vince Colletta. There’s mind-control afoot, and the Thing has temporarily turned evil and joined up with the Frightful Four. So he aims to take Johnny Storm out of the picture…

    Ha ha, I thought the FX bubble in the last panel said “THING!” when I first saw it. I did a two second double take. How awesome would that be if anytime the Thing whacks somebody, a big “THING!” word bubble pops up.

    Panel: The Thing picks up a vase filled with flowers and smashes it over Johnny Storm’s melon.
    Thing: Hey, kid! Here’s a pot fer pushin’ up the daisies!
    FX: THING!

    Maybe thats not so much awesome as essential.

    I like the way The Think was illustrated here, why does he look so different from The Thing I seem to remember?
